Music Lesson Tip
Lesson Tip
by Gigi Inara
Here is something to think about for the week: Just as an experiment think of music as a journey. This may sound a little esoteric but humor me for a moment. When you go on a trip you will have a destination in mind and a plan on how to get there. Frequently though you’ll try to enjoy the scenery on the way there, maybe make a few pit stops and a few detours. Your musical education can be thought of in much the same way. You likely started lessons with a goal in mind whether it be a specific song you want to play or your goal may be to start a band. Whatever your goal don’t forget to enjoy the journey! Learning something new cause frustration at times (going back to my earlier analogy: getting through an airport can drive anyone insane) but there are a lot of fun things along the way as long as you can stop and appreciate it. Your goal may be to start a band but one of your pit stops could be to play in a recital. Your goal may be to learn a specific song but try to enjoy all the songs you learn leading up to that goal. Above all, enjoy yourself!
