Relaxation & Singing

Vocal Tips No Comments

People wonder about the ways that one can change up the style of their voice. What makes a voice change style? Well there are a few things that are involved. For one… Where you place the vibration within your face. It all should be powered from the diaphragm of course, and then directed by your mental thoughts and physical shaping of the sound, to different places in your face and body. This will develope your tone for a specific genre. Depending on whether your vibrations are focused between your eyes, in the front of your face, out your nose, inside your mouth and up, or low in your chest, etc. will make a BIG difference in your tone! Then of course, the way that you shape your mouth and lips, and pronounce your words, shape your phasings in a way that suits a specific genre of music. Of course this all takes time and practice, and usually professional training. But eventually it can be mastered for a dedicated singer/musician or student if the desire is there. Of course, RELAXATION IS KEY! When a singer is tensed up and very nervous, it can really take a toll on a singers pitch, tone, phrase shaping, and of course the performance. Relax, be confident, just trust yourself, and of course practice : )
