Emilio Guim (Guitar/Bass)
An Ecuadorian session musician, composer and sound engineer, Emilio is an incredibly versatile musician and extremely passionate about teaching students of all ages and levels. He is well versed in jazz as he is in pop, rock, funk, and blues. Through his teaching methods he helps his students find a balance between the discipline and joy of music, making the learning process both gratifying and fun.
His education started at a very early age in classical guitar at Tchaikovsky Music Academy in Ecuador. Emilio moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21 to study at the Musicians Institute – GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology), where he graduated with honors in professional contemporary music. At GIT he studied with world-renowned musicians such as Scott Henderson, Mike Stern, Allan Holdsworth, Nuno Bettencourt, George Lynch and Carl Schroeder amongst others. He also received a diploma in sound engineering program at Los Angeles Recording School in 2005. In 2007, the Ministry of Culture of Ecuador named Emilio one of the country’s most important musicians.
In 2008 he moved to Toronto where he keeps himself busy playing in different jazz and rock venues around the city, writing music for film, and theater and tutoring.
